Robert Kraft keen on buying a Premier League club

American billionaire and owner of the New England Patriots and New England Revolution in the NFL, Robert Kraft, has said that owning a club in the Premier League still excites him.

The 76 year old American had lost a bid to own Liverpool in 2005 as the Club was eventually sold to his fellow American billionaire duo, Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Kraft admitted his preparedness to spray cash in the Premier League but also acknowledged his reservation in making his decisions.

According to him, the manner at which the game has failed to provide equal chances for all teams is a major reason for withholding investment into the Premier League.

He said in a statement in BBC Sports, “I like to win at whatever I do.

“But without a salary cap I’m concerned that we might be at a disadvantage.

“We helped found MLS in America. Our league here is starting to really develop, and with our soccer team we’ve gone to the championship game five times in 21 years.

“I’m just concerned in the Premier League that we might not, with all the different ways of operating, we’re not as familiar with all of them.

“Let’s say people from all over the world come in and buy teams and maybe they have different reasons for doing it and managing it. And you have to compete with that and I’m not sure. But I’m still intrigued.”

However, despite his reservations, Kraft has said he remains keen on venturing into the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Chief of Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and owners of Liverpool have valued the club at £1 billion, a price tag that appears beyond the reach of President Trump’s friend, Robert Kraft.
